here comes 2011: from ‘prototype guy’ to ‘vegas guy’ and everyone in between

All over twitter and fb, there are wishes, hopes, dreams and expectations for 2011. Truthfully, I am just hoping to survive winter break…just kidding!  I am hopeful that my “braduct” (thanks JB for coining that term) will evolve from an idea into a prototype, and then, of course, a useful braduct that all women NEED to buy.   I have a rough outline of how I am going to get there, but I still have many unanswered questions.

The most difficult piece for me is that those questions will more than likely be left unanswered until 2011.  I have spoken about it before, patience is something that I am learning.  With that, I am also learning to prioritize differently and, occasionally, lower my expectations for myself.

This week has been lonely without “prototype guy”.  “Prototype guy” is visiting family for the holidays, and I cannot begrudge him that.  BUT, I miss him!  We were on such a fabulous creative roll before he left.  Who would have thought that we could have such a great time playing with bras in a purely platonic, utilitarian way?  My 2011 expectation is that we can pick up where we left and continue on that roll.

I cannot say good-bye to 2010 without saying thanks to all the various people who have supported me so far! All the usual suspects.  The 2 little boys and 1 big boy in my life have not had to make themselves dinner yet, so they are on board (I have to keep them there). I have wonderful friends who have listened to my ideas, enthusiasm, and disappointment over coffee, drinks, and fried tofu – you know who you are!  As excitement builds over what in the world I am doing with bras, I REALLY hope not to disappoint in 2011.

There is also a small group of people who have helped, inspired, and put up with a million questions that really did not have to…..To you all, I am forever grateful!  I know that I talk about “Prototype Guy” a lot, but there are others that deserve mentioning. The “Accountant Ladies” who have endlessly advised on 1040 forms and quickbooks; “Grillcharmer” who has taken the time to answer a bunch of mom inventor questions all thrown at her at the same time; “Lawyer #1” who walked me through the nondisclosure several times (Lawyer #2 coming soon); and “Vegas Guy” who introduced me to StartUpNation.com which has been an unreal resource.

Now Onward to 2011!  Expect to hear more about all these great helpers and more suspects to follow.

Finally, I expect this blog to expand into something more of a resource for at home moms needing a change or even just an affirmation of their current choices.  In 2011, this can be a place where career moms can seek out change themselves.  Along the way, the ultimate goal would be a working relationship between all moms.

Here is to a happy and healthy 2011 to all of my Backngroove-Readers. RB

Great wrap-up, I love it! I’m thankful to “Vegas” guy as well, since Start-up Nation is how I found you! Not sure what “braduct” is, but will certainly be interested to watch in unfold in 2011!
