This past weekend, I fulfilled a 2011 goal of taking my mom on a girls trip to Las Vegas. Of course, we had an amazing time. We laughed, talked, cried, & shopped like any mother and daughter should do on a weekend getaway. The memories will forever be embedded in my mind.
Being a mom blogger, a mompreneur, and woman in small business, I looked for the lessons in the trip (in addition to having fun). There were a few…..I guess, Everything that happens in Vegas, actually does NOT stay in Vegas.
- When I went back to my room to go to sleep on the last night, there was a little note on my bed that said “DREAM BIG.” This is vitally important no matter what you do – whether you are working on your family, your career, or your entrepreneurial enterprise. As women, we must always DREAM BIG, but especially as woman entrepreneurs. I am not saying to form grandiose visions of what you want your life to look like, but rather follow your dreams to the maximum. Dream of what you want, and follow the necessary steps to DREAM BIG and REALIZE BIG rewards!
- My mom and I were extremely lucky to see Celine Dion in concert while we were in Las Vegas. This was a unique opportunity, and truly an amazing story. Celine is absolutely someone who dreamed BIG and accomplished BIG. During the show, Celine made tribute to those that she admires, who influenced her, and her heroes. I thought to myself no matter how BIG we get in our pursuits, we all have role models, mentors, heroes, and those that influenced us to be BIG. The trick is not to forget those people even as we achieve our goals because if it were not for them…..would we be as inspired?
- The strip in Las Vegas is pulsating with PASSION. Everyone walking up and down the street, is overflowing with PASSION for soaking it all in, getting married in the little white chapel, the possibility of winning, getting an opportunity to see their favorite mega star in a show, or simply enjoying the sun and dry heat. Although we need to make wise choices when choosing our business endeavors, once we pick them we should have PASSION! What fuels our ongoing endurance as women in business? PASSION.
This past weekend was such a HUGE luxury and reward, and I will never forget it. Now, I am back to business as usual but refueled with PASSION for my BIG DREAMS. I am also renewed in my spirit to pay if forward to those who inspire and propel me in my dreams. More to come on that – definitely.
In the meantime, I was dreaming BIG about my website for moms in transition, a resource for moms who want to change gears and organize their BIG goals, and it is SLOWLY coming together.
What are you DREAMING BIG about? Rachel
