For a blogger to take a week off of writing is like asking a dog to take a week off of sniffing. Somehow I got it in my head that I was going to take a week off during this family vacation. Hence, I am laying in bed in a dark room while everyone sleeps, and I am writing this post.
Don’t misunderstand, I am having a blast (cliché but fitting) and this was a great idea on my part to share a family vacation in lieu of lots of gifts. Just on the plane ride alone, I felt as though mission accomplished as I sat next to my son who as of this morning is officially ELEVEN and chatted away. I mean that is the point of what I am doing here….spending face-to-face time with my lovable sons and often hysterical husband. Oh, and my mom who is here, too (she is forever fabulous)
However, taking a week off of writing — CRAZY, LOCO, NUTS. You see a blogger’s mind is always taking a tiny ember of life and weaving it into a post, and here I am on a cruise with my family with embers happening by the minute. Just the fact alone that I have taken the MOST amazing photos on my camera yet left my cord to download them at home is a post about what not to do when traveling as a blogger.
My aforementioned plane story, my snorkeling adventure, and my son’s birthday are all stories that I want to share along with the pictures that go with them. I know….I am such an idiot with the camera cord, but you will have to wait until next week. Which in a way is a good thing because this week is my time with my family.
I promised no working and tons of family fun. Maybe it was sub-conscious that I forgot the cord, I don’t know. What I do know is that I am having a really amazing time with my tween sons and family while talking, swimming, and just hanging. I needed it and they needed it, so even though it is excruciating not to share major life lessons and anecdotes on the blog for a week, good things come to those who wait.
I am meaning me – I am WAITING and good things are happening with my family and me. So, it is all worth it.
I have to go before the troops wake up, but before I forget, HAPPY Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and I am now officially a mom to an ELEVEN year old — HAPPY Birthday JB!
Oh, if you are a fan of my FB page – http://facebook.com/Backngroovemom – you may get a chance to see an Iphoto or two (that cord I have). Rachel
