How Helping Moms Wear Skinny Jeans Helped One Family…

A goal of mine for 2012 was to feature more Back’nGrooveMoms doin’ their groovy thing.  Lyssa Weiss is one of these moms with an unreal business groove and a side of groovalicious muffins…mmmm (more on that later).  Lyssa runs a biz called The Skinny Jeans Diet, and I know you all want to slide right into those skinny jeans.  Since January is in full swing and many of you may be abandoning your new year’s resolution to eat well already, I thought I would feature Lyssa NOW.

Many thanks to Lyssa on sharing the following post on how she found her groove and more.

The development of The Skinny Jeans Diet is a product of the worst economic recession since the Great Depression. Like so many others, my family was hit hard by the free fall of the economy. After 12 years of being a stay-at-home-mom with a life of leisure, my family needed a second income FAST. It was time to go back to work.

I quickly got hired by the local gym as a staff nutritionist, and was given a small office. For years, I had been sharing my own skinny jeans diet with friends. Now, it was time to go public. I started leading a weight loss group called the “Fit Into Your Skinny Jeans Diet Group”.  My first group consisted of six women. All lost weight the first week, and when I saw how they were responding to the diet both physically and emotionally, I knew I was on to something. What’s more, these women were having fun while losing weight!

The group setting tapped into the competitive spirit of these women, while offering much welcomed support. Using eating tips, tricks and behaviors that resonated for them and their individual lifestyle, they emailed food diaries to each other, brought different dishes than usual to book club, and served alternatives to burgers and cake at family barbeques. They changed their evening snacks and eating rituals, picked up grocery items for one another, and confided some of their biggest challenges and food sabotages, only to find support and motivation to initiate change.

Being at a social event and making good food choices knowing friends were doing it too, made losing weight a little easier. Soon, word started to spread in town about the “The Skinny Jeans Diet”, and the diet started getting passed around town. Suddenly, groups of women in my town and neighboring ones were calling for appointments. Six months after that first meeting, I was leading several groups of twenty. Today, I’ve worked with hundreds of women who have used the Skinny Jeans Diet to lose weight and live thin. I switched to a bigger office. – Lyssa

I am so pumped after reading Lyssa’s story!  Not only to feel the excitement of a successful mom in biz, but also to think about eventually putting on my skinny jeans.

Earlier I mentioned that Lyssa has a groovalicious muffin by her side, and that she does.  Lyssa developed and sells skinny muffin toppers that satisfy any carb addicts craving for something sweet and doughy.  I have had the pleasure of eating the chocolate chip skinny muffin topper, and it is GOOOOOD.  – Rachel

Lyssa is giving away a 10 pack of muffins to one lucky gal.  Leave a comment below (maybe share your funniest skinny jean story), and the winner will be selected at random by ‘And the Winner Is’ by January 31st.

I don’t really have a funny skinny jeans story. Maybe because my skinny jeans and I are NOT on speaking terms at the moment *sniff*

I was hosting a friend’s 12 year old last week-end. At Nordstom as we walked past the boys department, he told me that he wears skinny jeans as do all his friends.
    A 12 year old boy!

I would love to try these out, as most “skinny” products taste that way!

I’ve never worn skinny jeans…but my sons do!
Maybe I should stay away from that trend for now…LOL!

My funniest skinny dipping story… wait did you say skinny JEANS? If none of my jeans are skinny, do I need to put them on a diet?

My daughter got me to wear skinny jeans so I wouldn’t look old and frumpy. I finally found a few pairs that didn’t accentuate my muffin top, but required me to buy boots to wear with them. What other kinds of shoes are right with skinny jeans? But more importantly, I’d love to find chocolate muffins that are actually healthy and taste good, with that real yummy chocolate taste! Now that’s my challenge to you!
