My mom asked me last night if I had given up on my product? WHAT?
It is my own unreasonable expectations and pressure on myself to perfect the prototype and get to market FAST and furiously that has me down.
Inventing something right is SLOW and takes patience which I am often without. I have discovered 3 techniques that help keep me in the moment and aid in limiting discouragement.
- Taking a Breather. After a prototype mishap, I could have crawled in bed and dwelled on it endlessly. Rather I took a deep breath, some space, and returned to the next round of correcting the prototype reinvigorated.
- Reuniting with original inspiration. With the prototype being in the final stages of tweaking and perfecting, I wanted to feel a bit of my original innocent excitement and mission. Who better to remind me of that then Prototype Guy??
- Yoga. I cannot talk about practicing yoga enough, but it is my salvation. When I break for yoga, it is truly the only time that I forget the smart phone, impending deadlines and problems, and just be in the moment with ME. It does not have to be yoga…It can be whatever your version of yoga is.
A few months ago, I heard someone say ‘I just want to invent something to invent something.’ Inventing is NO easy process and not for the weak at heart, but I LOVE it. I am not doing it to just do something, but rather to BE something.
The Braduct is alive and kicking. Oh yeh!
For some of you…it is so hard to wait – I know. To you, I promise a new handful of bra recs to keep you busy. You know I love undercover bra investigation.
