Seven Springs Mountain Resort has SNOW!

Often we talk about how busy we are as moms or dads, both working and stay-at-home.  Life is busy and hectic for all of us no matter what.  Sometimes a few days away as a family is just what the doctor ordered to reconnect and feel satiated as a family again.  Time to leave it all behind and reconnect and enjoy time together.

For me, skiing with the boys is our thing, our way to reconnect, our time to hang, chat on the lift, and chill later on with one another.

My boys learned to ski at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, so I was super excited when they asked me to spend a few days on property.  I already knew that I loved Seven Springs for a day trip, but now we were going to enjoy all that they have to offer on a getaway.  Woohoo!

Our duffels were packed and off we went.  Only an hour away from Pittsburgh, 7 Springs is super convenient, but also easily accessible to families from D.C., Maryland, Ohio, and all of Pennsylvania  (I even met a family from Atlanta while we were there).

After spending an overnight at Seven Springs, when asked for a quote upon arriving home, JB said ‘When can we come back?’  Let me tell you why!

Look Mom -- No Hands!

We spent 2 awesome days skiing and a night in a Slopeside Suite in the Lodge.  There are several options to stay over at 7 Springs…they have everything from condos to cabins to the hotel.  Our room was perfect because it had 2 separate sleeping areas and a gorgeous view of the slopes.

and a big closet for our boots and ski pants...

Although there has not been a huge amount of snow this winter, 7 Springs is making snow and all of the slopes are open and ready to ski.  It is actually pretty incredible to take in and see how much everyone is enjoying WINTER at 7 Springs.  The resort was brimming with people when we arrived, but the lift lines were moving and there are enough slopes that we did not feel crowded skiing.

Simply Gorgeous at Night

Staying on property made it so easy to ski in and out.  After an easy go through with the renovated rental area, we checked our skis at the hotel ski check and easily retrieved them as needed.  The slopes were only a few steps from the hotel.

The boys and I also checked out some of the condos on property on our skis…I imagine this makes staying in a condo easy because some of the condos are accessible via lifts. There is also a super easy shuttle system around the property.

Of course, skiing makes you super hungry, and we checked out several different dining establishments while were there including lunch in the ski lodge, dinner at Timbers, breakfast at Slopeside, lunch for 2 at the Foggy Goggle while the boys were at ski school, and of course, cookies from the GingerBread Dreams Bakery.  I should also mention because you all know that I love my coffee, 7 Springs serves Starbucks!

moms and dads can have fun, too!

As for the actual skiing, it was fantastic!  The boys and I did enough runs until their hearts were content (and I needed to sit down).  Both boys spent a half day in Snowsports School brushing up their skills.  I have the utmost confidence in the Snowsport Instructors at 7 Springs, after all that is where it all started for my boys.  I also have to say that a friend who visited from out-of-town a while back was THRILLED with the lessons that her children received.

wanting to snowboard next time!

After spending time in their lessons, the boys wanted to show off their new skills to me, and that they did!  Pretty soon, the boys are going to be teaching me a thing or two.

Even though, we mostly spent our time, skiing, eating, and relaxing, there is a TON to do at 7 springs for skiers and non-skiers.  We scoped out bowling, the video arcade, tubing and the clay disc shooting to name just a few.  There is a spa, and I think next time, I will be treating myself to a massage!

The place was packed with families, and the kids had a ball meeting others in the ski school and hanging in the lodge.  I was really happy with how clean all the facilities were even with a full house.  The icing on the cake was all the fantastic fireplaces around the resort to warm my cold hands and feet.

Will we go back – DEFINITELY!  Seven Springs is an Incredible Family Getaway!

THIS could be your kid!!

Before we do, though, I am thrilled to be able to select one lucky commenter to receive 2 midweek nights lodging in the hotel and 4 lift tickets for 2 days at 7 Springs during the upcoming Spring Break!!!  All you have to do is comment (in the pink comment section) by Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at noon, and the winner will be selected at random.

Disclaimer:  I was provided both an overnight stay and lift tickets by Seven Springs Mountain Resort, but as you can see, I was already a huge fan.  All opinions here are my own. Winner of contest will be chosen at random and contacted individually to furnish their information to 7 Springs.

We just returned from 2 nights at 7 Springs with my boys as well and our experience was identical to yours – fantastic! Can’t wait to go back!

Let me start off by saying great post about the resort. I grew up skiing at 7 Springs and worked there all through high school in the rental shop. Reading about it brings back a lot of memories. I haven’t been back in a few years. I promised my 6 yr old son I’d teach him how to ski one of these years. This was supposed to be the year, but the weather around here hasn’t really worked out. I’m sure my soon-to-be 4 year old daughter would love it too!

In any case, glad you got to spend some quality time with your boys! I’m sure you made memories to last a lifetime.

I’d love to take my family!

Great post. My girlfriend and I have been enjoying 7 springs quite a bit this year. Despite the lack of natural snow, the mountain crew has done a heck of a job of making the slopes enjoyable!

The only thing that would make this winter better would be some free tickets! 🙂

We love riding 7 Springs when skiing local. Looking forward to heading up for a weekend getaway with family and friends in a few weeks for my 30th Birthday.

We love 7-Springs as well! My wife doesn’t like the cold so I’ve encouraged my kids to ski and they are my local ski partners. They both learned to ski at 7-springs and love heading up to ski there. Would be great to take them up for an overnight trip! I might even be able to get my wife to come up if I mention the spa!

Pick me! Pick me! I was there 3 weeks ago and want to go back.

Myself and some friends are headed to 7 Springs on Sunday for a couple of days. Though my friends are all seasoned 7 Springers, it is my first time. So, needless to say, I am very excited! We are from Ohio and haven’t seen good snow this year. It is also my first year snowboarding and I am eager to hit the slopes and work on my skills. Be seeing you all soon!

We are coming to Seven Springs again in March. My grown children and grandchildren come along too. I work part-time in a middle school library and love to get away for a few days here and there through out the year. During my days off from school I am usually babysitting grandchildren so this is a nice break from the routine. This time we are adding a new addition to our group, a 5 month old baby boy will be coming along too. Last year, my husband pulled my grandson up and down the beginner slope while his parents snowboarded. This year he will be taking snowboard lessons and joining the toddler day school. There are so many things to do at Seven Springs that no one complains about being bored. Love It!

I grew up skiing in upstate New York but have never had the opportunity to enjoy Wintertime at Seven Springs! My family would be thrilled to spend a few days frolicking in the snow at Seven Springs this Spring break!

Love 7 Springs. Spent a ton of time there as a kid and have recently started skiing there with my family. Am falling in love with Springs all over again.

I love 7 springs! Pick me so I can take your kid’s favorite basketball coach for a post-season get away!

  • Cindy Entin February 23, 2012, 12:18 AM

Haven’t been to Seven Springs since my 9th Grade Ski Trip! Would love to win and go with my family! Now that I’m thinking about it, the last time I went skiing was on Mt. Nittany in college – might need to take a refresher class or 2 if I win! : )

  • Marissa February 23, 2012, 9:13 PM

Thanks for your article…very nice review! I am hoping for a snowboard trip for my daughter and I to take before all this global warming melts the snow away! We’ve never been to 7 springs before, but from what I’ve seen on their site, and from reviews like yours, it looks like a terrific place! Here’s hoping we’re selected so we can experience Artic Blast! 🙂

  • Heather Ross February 24, 2012, 11:26 AM

My husband loves to ski (though doesn’t get to go very often) and my 6 year old has been dying to learn!

  • Barbara Visnovsky February 28, 2012, 7:55 AM

Great review of Seven Springs, Rachel! I have skied at Seven Springs for years. It is nice to read about a first-timer’s great experience at the resort. It makes us appreciate even more what a great top resort we have in our “backyard”. As we always said, “You can do it ALL at Seven Springs!!”. Best kept secret: the lunch hot buffet at the Slopeside restaurant (it is definitely better than the crowded cafeteria at the ski lodge and cheaper.)
