Ed. Note – There was some discussion here last week about the posts which we spend the least time writing get the biggest response. We collectively joked about needing to use an egg timer.
In an effort to try it out, I set a timer for this post. I will see how it goes….
Later this week, I am leaving for The Mom 2.0 Summit in MIAMI!!
Although, I have attended a number of conferences over the last year and a half, this is my first ‘blogging’ conference. My mood is somewhere between ecstatic – Ritz Carlton Miami, blogging, tweeting, sun, party at Versace Mansion, unreal speakers – AND sick with nerves.
The feeling is reminiscent of entering the various sororities for rush during my freshman year of college. There are all these girls/women who I look up to, admire, and who have already been accepted into the fold who are going to be there. Although, I have carved out a tiny, tiny, little niche of my own, I am nowhere near the bloggers who will be represented at 2.
I find myself walking a very fine tightrope between letting my nerves get the best of me and feeling confident in my work thus far. I am proud of myself – don’t get me wrong. There is no false bravado here. I am happy with where I am, what I have done, and my vision for where I am going. I am certain that the information learned while at Mom 2.0 will only enhance all of the above.
All this being said, I cannot help but to sweat a little thinking about walking into the registration on Thursday and remembering how I felt introducing myself to groups of confident collegiate sophomores and juniors as a freshman. I am a freshman blogger hoping to get enough credits to move on to my sophomore year. That’s it. It is scary, and well, exciting.
My timer is saying that I need to wrap up, so I am going to finish with what I am definitely going to bring to Mom 2…
Sense of humor.
Push Up Bra.
Nordstrom charge (there has been chatter about shopping).
Scarves and Cardigan (those Floridians love their air conditioning).
and, What I am not going to bring…
Guilt (boys are going to have a great time with dad and grandma).
Mom 2 or bust.
