Goodbye Pants, Hello Groovalicious Dresses

After a year or so of trying to convince myself that I am a ‘pants’ person, I have thrown in the towel.  Other than jeans, pants do not work for me.  Period.

Instead of burning my bra, I am freeing myself of the obligation to love pants.

I have tried going down the pants route for work, and there are a number of problems involved.

First of all, I am tall and curvy.  By the time, I get a pair of pants to either be long enough or wide enough for my hips, the waist is sagging and the pockets are not lined up correctly.

Secondly, capris do not work because they end up looking like culottes on my long legs.

Finally, pants feel tight, hot and sticky by the end of the day.  You know – I like to ‘breathe.’

Dresses are my friend.  In the winter with tights and boots and with a wedge sandal in the summer, I can go anywhere in a dress.  From a work meeting to a school function to drinks with a friend or the occasional mid-week date night, dresses rule!

I have my eye on a few little numbers for the summer months.

Love this breezy romantic dress for day or night. By Anthropologie.

I would add a brightly colored cardigan and some funky sandals to this black dress to tackle any event on my agenda.  Although it is dry clean only and $168, it is a LBD that will be around in the closet for a long, long while.

I happen to adore dresses by Athleta. They wash and travel well, and leave a cool and casual impression.

Stick a gauze scarf and either boots or espadrilles to complete this blue number.  Dress can be ordered through Athleta Online and is $108, but the best part is this – it is machine washable.

Of course, there is always the issue of accessories.

Will have to tackle that later.

How about you?  Do like pants or dresses better?

Totally into skirts. Don’t do pants either.

I love dresses–they are an instant outfit and with the right cut very flattering.

So with you on this!! I’ve also given up on pants that fit my “curvy” (must better word than BIG) rear and live for dresses.

I thought for a while on the most politically correct way to refer to my rear!
