Inventing is like Marriage: Hang in There (Part 1)

For those of you who don’t know, I am inventing a product line in addition to writing this here blog.  Shocking as it is, some of you really may not know.  Doubtful, but I wanted to clarify that I am still in fact developing The Braduct.

At this moment, it does not really matter what I am inventing.  I could be inventing someone to go grocery shopping for me or a toilet for dogs.  What matters is that Inventing is like Marriage.  Full of exciting ups and downs, good times and bad times, in sickness and health, compromise, and disappointments.

That is what Inventing is all about.  Really.

For the last 18 months, I have experienced all of these aforementioned emotions when it comes to inventing (and my marriage).  You know those nights where everything is going wrong and you want to get in your car and drive back to your bachelorette pad?  Inventing evokes a similar feeling in which you want to run as fast as you can to whatever you were doing before hand.

Over the last week to so, I find myself thinking (while I am driving) about what I could/would/should be doing right now if I went back to being a SAHM.  Oh right, I can’t just do that because I have this here blog and well, I have my product ideas….

Simply saying ‘hang in there’ does not always cut it when I feel as though I am falling down the side of a cliff.

What are some inventing survival tactics?  Are they the same as marriage survival tips?

After all, I am married to both my actual husband and my products….

Start-up, inventing, all are wonderful and distressing. Some days are great others well I had one this week where I was less than pleasant because I was the only one doing the job right!!!! I digress, my mantra to surviving, similar from Gone with the Wind,”Tomorrow is another day”.
