October is officially underway which means PINK is in the air. It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and whether you are walking through the mall or watching football this Sunday, you will think you are seeing the world through rose-colored glasses because we are in a PINK-out (and for good reason).
Last month, I ran my first 10 K and raised almost $500 to donate towards early mammogram screenings for women in need. While I think we can agree that we are all aware of breast cancer, many either are not aware of the benefit of early detection and/or cannot afford it. As one of my friends finishes the second half of her reconstruction process following a double mastectomy, another close friend of mine begins the journey. These women are braver and stronger than I can imagine, and I admire their courage to not allow their very own breasts to attack them.
As an innocent bystander, a friend on the outside looking in, a fellow woman and mom, I send meals, drive carpools, and shop anything PINK this month to pledge my support to my friends and all the other millions of women out there.
These are a few of my favorite products to stay warm and cozy this month both in function and meaning.
From The Sprout Co. on Etsy, all the proceeds of this pale pink, organic, hand knit scarf will go to the Susan Komen Foundation.
For Men by New Era, but I would sport this on-field hat any day. Complete with your favorite NFL Team and proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. An added bonus – Free Shipping from Dicks Sporting Goods this month on breast cancer awareness products.
Adore this LEOPARD and PINK scarf from Scoop NYC benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Don’t mind if I order one or two.
You have to be comfy ‘underneath’ too – American Eagle’s Bright Pink Shop benefitting BrightPink.Org has a whole selection of bras and panties in pink, red, and white with proceeds going to the cause.
And, of course, what every one in my house wants…..PINK Nike Elite Basketball Socks.
These are just a few quick picks. I would LOVE for you to share something you bought this month in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month in the comments to keep the giving going….and the suggestions flowing. RB
