I took a little trip down memory lane this morning. Henry and I met 15 years ago. Our first date was on Super Bowl Weekend, and I guess one wedding, two kids, many dogs and 2 houses later…The rest is history. This being our fifteenth Valentine’s Day together, I don’t know what to expect but the romantic in me is hoping for something to remember. Our first V-Day was not spent together. My closest friend was having a destination wedding on February 14th, and since the relationship was new, I was set to go to the wedding on my own. Before leaving, I did bake Henry 12 dozen cookies and Henry was sneaky and hid a huge box of candy in my luggage. We have never replicated the candy and the cookies, but there have been many years of lingerie and robes and I am pretty sure a pair of slippers.
This year, I have been dropping hints, and let it be said – I may even buy myself something special this V-day. This is because I recently was introduced to Jules Smith Designs. Gina Nigrelli Smith, founder of Jules Smith is my kind of woman. With a background that includes dancing for the NY Ballet, working at Diesel, living in the Caribbean and now a mom balancing being an entrepreneur and life with kids in NYC. Gina’s and my mission paired up like no other, and I instantly started to stalk her designs.
My first piece of Jules Jewels (as we have been affectionately calling them) were the Surf Bangles, and I have been wearing them since Saturday.
They have been to basketball, a pretty swank dinner, a Super Bowl Party and now are jingling on my arm as I work. Not only can they go fun and casual or swanky, but the Surf Bangles make me smile when I look down on them. I am also a big fan of the bracelets lightweight feel. You know that these bracelets were inspired by a busy woman who not only had a flair for cool design but also understood the need for a little funky bling that can one from work to fun to basketball. (That can be worn?)
So, I have been busy looking and hinting for what I want for the next piece. Perhaps the VIva Glam Necklace
or the Chained to You Earrings…
I am trying not to get to sappy, but everyone can use a little surge of umph or romance and if there ever was a time to do it, I would say Valentine’s Day in the middle of cold and dreary February is the way to go.
Wait! I have a present for you too! Leave a comment in the PINK section below. You can just include a no-nonsense comment, but make it more fun and include a squishy romantic anecdote. One winner will be picked on 2/11/2013 at noon.
Disclaimer: Thanks to Jules Designs for sending me the Surf Bangles. They were my first choice. Although, Jules is sharing her sponsory warmth here, all opinions are my own.
