Ok, Philadelphia is Pretty Cool (updated)

I know I live in Pittsburgh, and I have been slow to admit that Philadelphia is a cool city, but it is.  I am not going to say that it is better, just cool.

I will say this:  Philly is a pretty easy road trip from the ‘burgh and a great place to head on a getaway with kids of any age.  The boys loved the sights, sound, and FOOD on the other side of our state.  We also dragged our baby cousin, Em, around quite a bit and she loved it all, too.  So, our motley crue ranging in age from 1&1/2 to 45 was all happy with The City of Brotherly Love (how appropriate with my 2 boys).

Thanks to the Four Seasons Philly, we had a prime location to stay where The Franklin Institute, The Rocky Steps, Rittenhouse Square and Shake Shack (a fav of ours from NYC) were all within walking distance.  Word.

We were only a quick car ride from everything else including The Liberty Bell, Reading Terminal and The 76’ers at the Sports Complex.

Don’t worry, we still bleed black and gold, we just think Philadelphia is a fabulous road trip (except for during football season?).

Check out our quick tour of the City of Brotherly Love – Who is ready to go?

It’s OK, the Eagles can be your NFC team. 🙂
I grew up in Philadelphia but have lived in Pittsburgh since 1991, so I get it!

Can’t get past the ever-present smell of urine. Philly stinks. Literally. Plus, last time I was there, a colleague got mugged in broad daylight for his iPhone. Keep Philly. I’ll take Pittsburgh.

I have to say – I felt pretty safe, but I understand…my mom was pick pocketed in NYC.

as for the smell – I didn’t smell it…. must have been because I was sniffing out cheesesteaks.

The New Yorker in me refused to embrace Philadelphia for the first few years we were living in the area. Now, however, I think there are so many great things about Center City. Glad you enjoyed your stay!
