Are we there yet?
Are the brownies finished?
Is it time for dessert?
Is my product on shelves?
When I began to invent a product, and I use the term invent loosley as in the beginning it was more like arts and crafts, I wanted to be selling the damn thing within a year. HA! After 2 & 1/2 years, I have a licensing deal, and I am still needing to be patient.
Much the same can be said about the blogging world. Not everyone can be the Bloggess the minute they set up blogging shop. Ok, no one can be the Bloggess, but you get my drift. Success takes hard work, long hours, lots of effort and drumroll, please – patience.
Every single day of the last 2 and a half years has been an exercise in patience. Waiting, exhaling, taking 2 steps forward and one back, and more waiting has been the theme of my life for close to 36 months. I have learned to contain my energy and excitement in an effort to keep my lack of patience at bay. What does that mean? It simply means attempting to remain objective/less emotional as BIG and little and awful
shit stuff happens. This is my coping mechanism for business. I cannot be as vibrant and emotional as I am in my day-to-day life, so to speak.
At the beginning of this year, I was steamrolling towards a plan to manufacture so-called products myself, but after much introspection and more patience, I went a different route. I realized I am a creative person with lots of ideas and passion, but manufacturing on my own would tie me up with logistics for starters, and I could not put aside everything here at Back’nGrooveMom. So, there you have it.
I looked for a licensor, and woot, found one (that is a story for another day). I made a choice to spend some time firming the direction of my writing/blogging end both here and elsewhere on the world wide web. I came to some good choices, and decided to have the talented, and hard-working, Janice, clean up the site for me. This meant more patience, but it is done! I am pretty thrilled. The same look, the same feel, just easier to read, navigate, comment (so don’t be shy – do so).
So, patience is really a virtue that I perhaps aspire to have more of and maybe have a little.
